Nursery Design with Anneli Bush

With only a few months until Baby BM is here, I've realised that I really need to get a move on with our nursery design! I am so excited about creating a beautiful space for our little one, a calm haven for feeding in the early months that later on can become a beautiful bedroom that will evolve as they grow.

A few months ago I had the opportunity to help fellow blogger and gorgeous friend, Anneli Bush, with her nursery for her baby boy Rio. Anneli is a fashion and lifestyle blogger with amazing taste. If you don’t follow her already, then you must, but be prepared to want to buy almost everything that she shares on her blog and Instagram feed!

Even though Anneli and her husband have renovated many properties in the past, and she has a real eye for interiors (see her recent home tour here & here), she was feeling tired and hormonal as the pregnancy progressed and just wanted someone there to bounce ideas off and help to get everything in place before her due date. I was really happy to help her out!

The room was already painted in the lovely soft grey, Dulux Swansdown. Anneli wanted to add some bright, fresh whites and like me, she loves natural textures, so sheepskin, wool, wood, brass and feathers were all included to create a calming and neutral space that she would really enjoy spending time in while Rio was young. The benefit of keeping everything so neutral is that in the future, it will be easy to add in some pops of colour as Rio grows.

The end result (completed with only a few days to spare before Rio’s arrival!) is a beautiful, soft and gentle space with lots of texture, which adds warmth and comfort.

It was so much fun to help Anneli create this beautiful room and was also good practice for working on my own. As we are having a surprise, and don’t know the gender of our baby, I am also planning to create a neutral space, mixing in some pastel primary colours in to keep our options open. I can’t wait to share the finished design with you in a few months’ time, but until then enjoy these beautiful pictures!
